Onion rind is a waste rising up from the onion production. The paper presents laboratory research and fieldworks on the technology of composting process of onion rind mixed with a straw as well as an application of distillery decoction as a source of nitrogen for correction of C/N level. The experiments with different levels of mixture of rind and straw as well as the levels of decoction application were carried out. It has been proved that preserving the proper structure of composting material it is possible to obtain an intense thermophilic phase. High temperature ensures water vaporization from applied decoction, an intensive mineralization of difficult dissolving compounds and pasteurization of obtained compost.
