ABSTRACT
The correct identification of the interface of the heat exchange in a rock bed thermal storage is significant for the process of describing the heat flow between the bed and air. The transfer of this form of energy goes on during each of the phases of the device's work. New methodology of the identification of the surface area of the stones, suggested by the authors, bases on the division of its mould created using a foam concrete and then on the identification of the partial areas. The procedure is carried out by means of the specially created computer system in which the digital pictures, taken during the division objects scan, are processed. The suggested research device was then used to identify the surface areas of the elements of the rock storage's bed which was granite break stone.
