The main attributes of the organic market in Poland were presented in the paper. The obstacles of demand character related to high level of organic food prices are the most important barriers of its development. The results of the research on consumer prices of organic fruit and vegetables were presented in the study. The trial to define the basic determinants of the organic products price level was undertaken as well. The carried out research showed that the price premiums amounted from 60% to over 300%, which was mainly influenced by small production volume and low efficiency of the distribution system.
