ABSTRACT
Spring wheat was grown in the years of 2004 and 2005 on IVa class soil, on the land which was fallow for eight years. Before the wheat sowing, a soil absorbent (Super Absorbent Plus) was applied to the amount of 1 kg/250dm3 of soil. In the full growth phase, a spray was applied of a solution of effective microorganisms (EM) of 31/ha. The application of EM, in comparison with the control object (a water spray) resulted in the increase of the amount of ears and stalks on an area unit by 17 and 13 per cent respectively. A significant growth of the grain and straw yield occurred (by ca. 23 per cent). Also, the ear length was greater (by 8 per cent). The absorbent application (in comparison with the control object) resulted in a decrease of the amount of ears and stalks (by ca. 12 per cent). The grain yield decreased by 34 per cent, while the straw yield was reduced by 20 per cent. All the results obtained, in spite of the distinct differences, were not confirmed statistically.
