In this article there are presented the opinions of farmers from Wielkopolska region on the knowledge of organic farming concept, as well as the motives and intentions of organic food production. Research proved, that farmers interest in ecological production methods is not too large. At the same time, organic farming is the most known concept to farmers among different other concepts which characterize environmentally friendly production methods. The greatest barrier for farms which oppose the change of farming method are the costs of farms conversion. Among factors which decide on farming with application the environmentally friendly methods the most important are: concern with family health, with agricultural products quality, and with soil condition.
