Effect of pre-sprouting of potato tubers on occurrence of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn on sprouts and tubers of six organically grown potato cultivars

ABSTRACT
The experiment was conducted in 2002-2004 on experimental fields owned by Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation - National Research Institute in Puławy. During emergence determined was occurrence of sprout rot and after harvest-\ black scurf. Sprout rot and black scurf were found in all years of research. Their intensity was differentiated and depended on weather conditions, cultivar and pre-sprouting of tubers. Pre-sprouting limited occurrence both of sprout rot and black scurf. The highest number of disease symptoms was noted on 'Bila' cultivar and the lowest on 'Wawrzyn'. Various infection of organically grown potatoes suggests possibility of variety selection showing lower susceptibility for fungal diseases in this system.
