Paper presents results of the studies upon influence of grinding rate of barley and lupine (particle size in the range 0.25 to 2.5 mm) on the moisture content resuling from hydrothermal treatement, and physical propertis of pellet. It was noticed that the mean values of moisture increasement after conditioning for lupine ranged from 2.62 to 5.79%, and from 4.06 to 4.90 for barley. Lupine pellet quality was not statistically influenced by the particle size (p>0.01). For barley the best results were obtained for material constituted of the finest particles. It was additionally noticed that the grinding ratio influenced mostly amount of fines in resulting pellet (change from 7.43 to 14.41%), and its durability (change from 97.12 to 91.72%).
